Top 10 Universities of India in 2020 by TIMES ranking


There are lots of  platforms where various Universities across the country are ranked according to their overall yearly performance. But some major of them which has unique selection criteria are NIRF rankings and the TIMES HIGHER EDUCATION WORLD UNIVERSITY RANKINGS.

The NIRF rankings of 2020 is not released yet but the TIMES agency has provided it's rankings for the year 2020. We will soon post the NIRF rankings when released to keep you guyz informed to get the best out best.

India’s higher education system is one of the largest in the world, after China and the United States, and is especially known for its engineering schools. The country’s parliament declared institutes of technology as “institutes of national importance” in 1961, which helped the then newly established universities to grow and develop their reputations.
So, in order to know the beat universities, let's get started. 

10- Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham


This eminent university is based in Coimbatore. The multi-campus, multi-disciplinary university currently has 6 campuses with 15 constituent schools across Tamil Nady, Kerala and Karnataka.It offers a total of 207 undergraduate, postgraduate, integrated-degree, dual-degree, doctoral, and certification programs in EngineeringMedicineBusiness, Arts & Sciences, Biotechnology, Mass Communication and Social Work. The university was founded with the opening of Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore in 1994 by Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, and is managed by her international humanitarian organisation Amritanandamayi Mata. In 2003, it became one of the youngest institutes to be deemed a university, when it was conferred this status by the UGC.

9 - IIT Roorkee 


Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee , formerly University of Roorkee and Thomason College of Civil Engineering, is a public technical and research university located in RoorkeeUttarakhand, India. Established in 1847 in British India by the then lieutenant governor, Sir James Thomason, it is the second oldest technical institution in Asia. It was given university status in 1949 and was converted into an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in 2001, thus becoming the seventh IIT to be declared. IIT Roorkee has 22 academic departments covering EngineeringApplied SciencesHumanities & Social Sciences and Management programs with a strong emphasis on scientific and technological education and research.

IIT Roorkee has a strong entrepreneurial culture, with many alumni who have moved on to found technological and social ventures in India and abroad, and have played an important role in the development of India. Ten alumni have won the Padma awards and twenty-five alumni have won the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology. Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (also known as IIT Gandhinagar or IITGN) is a public engineering institution located in GandhinagarGujaratIndia. It has been declared to be an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India.

IIT Gandhinagar is one of the eight Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) announced by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in 2008.The institute began operating in a temporary campus at Vishwakarma Government Engineering College, Chandkheda, mentored by Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.

7- Institute of Chemical Technology


Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), formerly the University Department of Chemical Technology (UDCT), is a public deemed university specialized in chemical technology located in MumbaiIndia. The institute also has campuses at JalnaMarathwada and Bhubaneswar (in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation and IIT Kharagpur). It is focused on training and research in various branches of chemical engineeringchemical technology, and pharmacy. It was established in 1933 and was granted deemed university status in 2008, making it the only state-funded deemed university in India. On 12 February 2018 it was given status of Category 1 institute with graded autonomy by MHRD and UGC. It is also an institute with a special status as mentioned in SECTION IV of the Report of the Empowered Expert Committee in 2018. The ICT was founded in 1933 as a University Department of Chemical and Technology (UDCT) of the University of Mumbai. Robert Forster was first Head of the Department (1933–38), followed by K. Venkataraman, who continued its development.

6- IIT Kharagpur 


The IIT Kharagpur is a public technical and research university established by the government of India in 1951. It is the first of the IITs to be established and is recognised as an Institute of National Importance. In 2019 it was awarded the status of Institute of Eminence by the government of India. 
The institute was initially established to train scientists and engineers after India attained independence in 1947. However, over the years, the institute's academic capabilities diversified with offerings in management, law, architecture, humanities, etc. IIT Kharagpur has an 8.5 square kilometres (2,100 acres) campus and has about 22,000 residents. The students and alumni of IIT Kharagpur are informally referred to as KGPians.

The IIT Delhi is a public technical and research university located in Hauz Khas, Delhi, is one of the 7 old IITs in India.

Established in 1961, was formally inaugurated August 1961 by Prof. Humayun Kabir, Minister of Scientific Research & Cultural Affairs. First admissions were made in 1961. The current campus has an area of 320 acres (or 1.3 km²) and is bounded by the Sri Aurobindo Marg on the east, the Jawaharlal Nehru University  Complex on the west, the National Council of Educational Research and Training on the south, and the New Ring Road on the north,and flanked by Qutub Minar and the Hauz Khas monuments.

The IIT Bombay is a public technical and research university  located in Powai, Mumbai, India. IIT Bombay was founded in 1958. In 1961, the Parliament decreed IITs as Institutes of National Importance.
It currently has a total of 15 academic departments, 20 centres, a school of excellence and four interdisciplinary programs. This IIT is also very famous for its Computer science ie. CSE branch. There are lots of scientists and famous entrepreneurs who had studies there.

3- IIT Indore


IIT Indore, located in Madhya Pradesh, is one of the Institutes of Technology established by the Government of India in 2009. It is one of the eight new Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India under The Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 2011 which declares eight new IITs as well as the conversion of Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University to IIT. The Act was passed in the Lok Sabha on 24 March 2011 and by the Rajya Sabha on 30 April 2012. Arjun Singh, the then HRD minister of India laid the foundation stone of IIT Indore on 17 February 2009 in its permanent campus located in Simrol, Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The institution started functioning from 2009-10 in a temporary campus at Institute of Engineering and Technology of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya under mentorship of IIT Bombay.The first batch of IIT Indore graduated in the year 2013, and the institute celebrated its first Convocation Day on 8 June 2013. IIT Indore's permanent campus is at Simrol, which is approximately 25 km from downtown Indore. From January 2016 onwards, the institute is functioning entirely at the permanent campus at Simrol.

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is a public, deemed, research university for higher education and research in science, engineering, design, and management. The institute was established in 1909 with active support from Jamsetji Tata  and Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV and thus is also locally known as the "Tata Institute".
