It's been a while after the Covid outbreak.. Throughout whole lockdown people had to suffer from various problems.. I too faced little struggle with my studies of graduation, however this lockdown has provided me enough time to learn about our Civilization..
I read many books and it changed of me perspective of me towards my land.. I once belonged to a category of youth where it was progressive to make fun of your heritage..
Does history matter? I would say 'a big yes'.
History not only gives insight to our past, also gives a sense of unity and identity among us ie Indians.. It is about learning both good and bad things and making a change in our present attitudes.. Let me give you An example of recent riots on CAA.. The Citizenship Amendment Act is perhaps best example where the idea of "India" and it's identity became a popular search, however it gives us insight of our historical baggage that needs to be done but idea of multiculturalism stopped India to deport illegal immigrants.. Suddenly history became a vital subject into this, I'm Pluralistic and religious tolerant not because of western education rather due to ethos of this land from time immemorial.. The other intellect side want us to take any immigrants without taking India's sovereignty and Security as a key point.. We are told that we are land of immigration from Aryans to Arab invasion which was termed as Immigration..
Aryan Invasion, the mythical tales is so widely accepted by western and Indian progressive who believes religion a mythology but believes in myth of British. Same people said that Aryans destroyed culture of so called dravidians and make them lower caste, subjugate them and at same time support illegal immigration by sighting Aryan theory.. Hypocrisy at it's best.. I may not have heart but brain and eyes..
The Issue of “Sabarimala” is another thing raises question regarding our heritage and western notion of conformity, equality.. I remember seeing Instagram Post of my female friends with tag of win of "Feminism" in India after SC judgement on Sabarimala practice .. I am all for equality but today's definition of discrimination is so naive that it forget distinction between "Diversity" and "Oppression".. There is only one Temple dedicated to a specific deity who happened to be a "brahmchari" and we are told it needs to be compared with all ills of past, where is sense of proportion in this debate.. What these people will say on Temple which have restriction on Men, if your answer is that there men must be allowed than you proven my point that your definition of discrimination is based on what Western equality says..
Whether beef should be banned or not; a thing needs to be mentioned here is that Western Media has no role to call us a fascist because in countries like America admire by our youth is also a country where meat of Dogs,Cats and horse are banned, no one called them regressive or Superstitious but in India even loving Cow will degrade your image among peers.. Western notion is so entreched in our mind that colonial legacy still have hold place in our discussion of India..
The reason why Cow is so revered in this land unlike to modern interpretation, Sanatan Dharma isn't a restrictive dharma rather present in every inch of this land.. The Indic way of living has respected cow because of;
- Cow milk product is Used for Yajna; one of revered Spiritual/religious practice from thousands years..
- Cows product like Milk and Ghee is considered of Sattvik nature, most highest form of human for a peaceful life..
- Cows dung was Used as a fertilizer, a fuel in household..
- Just like western like pets because they Love and for companionship, Same as in India cow was useful and also sacred..
Rafael deal during Dusshera had another remark on India's native citizens towards their own practice of "Shastra Puja" a practice invoking Goddess Shakti and worshipping weapon for good luck with One holding it.. However it soon became a matter of meme, regressive? Superstition? Let's see this
Above photos if of launching new ships, planes.. In US people break a Champagne during launch of any new ships, planes..No One called it regressive..
Among my Peer group in College right now, I personally encounter these comment like it's a matter of shame to India that we aren't following Scientific and Rational thinking as west.. Why we need to prove ourself again and again..
When Indian PM Mr. Narendra Modi asked for lighting diyas, clapping for solidatry, it became a matter of Joke, shame that we are going backward.. But this was pride
Above two photos are from Italy where people pop up music, lights during Corona however it was fun and loving.. No one called it as being "regressive" thing.. Is it only wrong when India do something..
People in western country lighten Christmas tree but was it called wrong? In my knowledge no..
Some years ago, I asked my peers about lighting diyas for Tulsi Pooja, it was called mere a Superstition however lighting lights on Christmas Tree is enjoyable as it is practiced by someone living in west..
Is Halloween good because it saw a waste of pumpkins? According to our Young one's, it's fun whereas using milk on Idols is somehow wastage..
I am a youth of this country, a rational free thinker, I am all for Progress of my Nation state but not in expense of proving someone great and to become like someone isn't our spirit.. Instead of focusing on Education, Economy we are all debating to put One culture down.. Your Ignorance towards your own heritage will be Used as a weapon against you..
If today we are multiculturist it's not because that we inherited this from west, rather our Civilizational ethos which has promoted the idea of a Pluralistic state with everyone has right to accept or reject philosophies and beliefs.. This is the reason in Ancient India Indic religions coexisted peacefully with different thoughts, beliefs..
"It is better to live in your own destiny imperfectly than to live an imitation of somebody else's life with perfection." - The Bhagavad Gita
We, as a Sovereign country should strive for development of our own..
